Tenn. Code Ann. ยง 68-1-305 โ Last updated in 2024
Authorizes the Tennessee Commissioner of Health to develop a comprehensive state oral health plan aimed at reducing oral disease. The plan may be used to guide resource allocation and improve competitiveness for funding. It may include measurable goals, state-specific data, and public distribution. Notably, the plan may include programs to address oral cancer and periodontal diseases, alongside initiatives on dental caries, water fluoridation, and school dental sealant programs. The law encourages collaboration with dental, medical, and public health stakeholders and calls for updates to the plan every five years.
