This bill addresses the public health risks associated with betel nut use, particularly its link to oral cancer. It requires the Oregon Health Authority to fund community-based public health campaigns and mandates training for healthcare providers on the negative health effects of betel nuts. The Oregon Department of Education and Higher Education Coordinating Commission must also integrate information about betel nut-related health risks—especially oral cancer—into school and college curricula. A report on program outcomes is due by December 15, 2026.
